Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has suspended passenger train services between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram after 10 pm Wednesday as a precautionary measure against severe cyclonic storm Titli.
The ECoR will take the call on resumption of services after 24 hours.
Trains from Howrah/Kharagpur direction towards south were not being allowed from Bhadrak after 5:15 pm Wednesday. Similarly, trains from Hyderabad/Visakhapatnam direction moving north were not being allowed from Duvvada (Visakhapatnam) after 6:40 pm.
“Long distance trains supposed to pass through ECoR jurisdiction between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram — on Howrah-Chennai Main Line — may be diverted via Nagpur–Balharshah-Vijayawada directions, if feasible. Some trains may be cancelled or may be cancelled partially as per the situation,” a press note issued by the ECoR said.
No movement of passenger trains will take place between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram section after 10 pm on Wednesday, till further advice, it said.
In view of consistent rain from early morning at Puri causing problem in train operations, the following trains have been rescheduled:
Puri-Jodhpur Express from Puri Wednesday will leave at 7:45 pm instead of 3:55 pm Wednesday.
Puri-Ahmedabad Express from Puri will leave at 9:25 pm instead of 6:20 pm Wednesday.
Puri-Durg Express from Puri will leave at 11:30 pm instead of 6:30 pm Wednesday.
Puri-Howrah Garib Rath Express scheduled to leave Puri at 10:10 pm Wednesday will leave at 5 am Thursday.
