Rourkela: In a strong move, the Ministry of Steel has put 26 officers working at several top positions in the corporate office of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) under suspension. The suspension includes two director-level officers while the rest are below board-level officials. Ministry of Steel vide its letter dated January 19 has placed VS Chakravarthy, Director (Commercial), and AK Tulsiani, Director (Finance) on suspension with immediate effect. Further, complying with the instructions from the Ministry, SAIL has also placed 26 below board-level officials of the company on suspension with immediate effect. All the officers belong to the corporate office of the steel behemoth. The issue pertains to investigations being carried out as per the directions of the Lokpal. Commenting on the matter, SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash said, “Company’s business is being carried out as usual and it is not going to impact the performance. We are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance and ethical conduct. SAIL continues to stand strong in the industry focusing on quality and customer satisfaction”.
