Town Club emerge champs

Bhubaneswar, June 7: Hosts Town Club registered a thumping 103 runs victory over Bharat Bhusan Cricket Academy (BBCA) to emerge champions of the Town Club Junior Cricket League here Sunday.

Put into bat first, Town Club posted a challenging total of 168 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Aswin Mohapatra (43) emerged as the highest scorer. Gourav Jena bowled well for BBCA to take three wickets.

In reply, BBCA were never in the chase. They could not tackle fiery spells of Amitansu Srichandan (4/14) and Binayak Mohanty (3/7) and were bundled out for 65 runs in 28.2 overs.

Former India-A player Rashmi Ranjan Parida was present as the chief guest and distributed the prizes. The champion team bagged a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a trophy, while the runners-up took home Rs 5,000 and the runners-up trophy.
