Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the upcoming 22nd Asian Athletics Championships (AAC2017) starting June 5 here, the Commissionerate Police (CP) Monday issued a public notice-cum-advisory restricting plying of vehicles on certain routes leading to Kalinga Stadium to ensure smooth traffic management during the premier sports event.
For the opening ceremony, the CP advisory states that no general vehicle will be allowed to ply on Bidyut Marg from Jaydev Vihar crossing to Shastri Nagar and vice-versa in view of the large number of national/international athletes, officials, dignitaries and ticket/pass holders going to the stadium.
Between 3 pm and 10 pm, July 5, vehicles coming from NALCO Square will be diverted at Jayadev Vihar towards Acharya Vihar, while vehicles from Shastri Nagar will be diverted towards Sachivalaya Marg here.
Vehicular traffic coming from Vani Vihar side on the service road towards Jaydev Vihar will be diverted onto the NH at the bridge wing between Acharya Vihar-Jayadev Vihar flyover and movement of vehicles will not be allowed on the service lane adjoining the flyover on NH-16 from Acharya Vihar to Jaydev Vihar from 3 pm to 7 pm, Wednesday, as per the traffic advisory.
Vehicular traffic will be suspended on Nicco Park Road between Behera Sahi and Nicco Park Chowk for public parking between 10am and 10pm on the day.
Meanwhile, state Home department said the home secretary held a meeting Monday with CP, labour secretary and IT department officials along with trade associations to keep business establishments closed July 5 to ease the traffic during the inauguration of AAC2017.
The associations heeded to the request and voluntarily agreed to keep their establishments closed between 1pm and 10pm, Wednesday, it was stated.
