Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police (CP) has issued traffic advisory ahead of India vs South Africa match December 9 and practice session December 8, scheduled at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Ahead of the T20 match and practice sessions, Cuttack will witness heavy traffic on all major routes leading to the venue. Police have urged commuters to plan their travel and follow traffic instructions to avoid congestion.
“In order to ensure player security and smooth traffic management, the Commissionerate Police has imposed special traffic restrictions under Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003 and Regulation 36 of the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public Order) Regulation, 2008. These restrictions will be in force December 8 from 12 noon to 9 pm, and December 9 from 8 am until the match ends and the crowd disperses,” the official notification issued by CP and signed off by Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh mentioned.
According to the advisory, vehicles coming from Mata Matha must park at the Lower Baliyatra Ground, while pass-holding vehicles will park at Upper Baliyatra Ground. Vehicles from Howrah Motor Square and Mani Sahoo Chowk will be diverted from Madhusudan Statue and re-routed through Mahanadi Ring Road to Lower Baliyatra Ground.
Likewise, no vehicles without valid passes will be permitted towards Barabati Stadium from Biju Patnaik Square, Chandi Mandir Square, Hanuman Mandir Square or Lions Eye Hospital Square. Similarly, access to Baliyatra Ground via Killa Fort from Ananda Bhawan Square will remain restricted.
Heavy vehicles will face strict movement restrictions on both Mahanadi and Kathajodi Ring Roads and within the city limits from 8 am to 2 am. During the players’ practice session December 8, heavy vehicle movement will be completely barred between Chahata Square and Sikharpur Square towards Bamboo Depot from 12 noon to 10 pm.
