Bargarh: Tension gripped Bardol village under Sadar police limits in this district following burning down of a transformer in the village 20 days back.
Repeated complaints with the WESCO (Western Electricity Supply Company) authorities have not yielded results, villagers alleged.
Angry villagers accused the electric department of snapping power intentionally as some locals have failed to deposit their outstanding electric bills.
Bardol village comprises Harijanpada, Patikarpada and Saharapada areas that are mostly resided by poor and tribal families.
A transformer was installed in the village to provide power to around 100 houses in the village. However, the transformer has been lying defunct for 20 days disrupting normal lives in the village.
With no help from WESCO, the villagers are living under dark. Power cuts give a tough time to villagers who are also deprived of water supply.
Heat wave condition has further added to their woes. Villagers are found seeking shelter under trees to get rid of heat. They cannot even charge their solar lights and mobile phones. Villagers have demanded the administration look into the matter and solve it immediately.
