Ways to tell whether you’re having a boy or a girl are nothing short of old wives’ tales. Let’s take a look into few tests and see if they prove to be true.

- Cravings for sweet or salty
The old wives’ tale suggests the flavour of which you are craving in your pregnancy will tell you whether you are having a boy or a girl. If all you have is a sweet tooth, then this is set to mean you are carrying a girl, after all, girls are made from sugar and spice so the rhyme goes. If it is the extra salty crisps you keeping grabbing for, then this means you are having a boy, apparently.
- The car key trick
If you put a car key down in front of someone who is pregnant, ask them to pick up the key. If she picks it up at the narrow end she will have a girl and if she picks up the wider rounded part at the top, she’ll have a boy…hmmmm. Worth a try though, see if it works for you!
- The ring challenge
If your fingers haven’t swollen so much you feel like your wedding ring will have to be surgically removed at some stage, slip it off and tie it to a piece of string. The idea is you hang it over your belly and if it swings in a circle you can expect a baby girl and if it goes back and forth, you will be having a little boy.
- Higher or lower bump?
Many people who throw this one at you during your pregnancy. The tale goes that if your bump is high you’re having a girl and if your bump is lower down, a boy is on his way.
- The sickness test
If the term morning sickness sums up your first trimester, or even your whole pregnancy, the signs say a girl is coming. If morning sickness was barely an issue, a boy it is.
