Two ‘corrupt’ senior officials in vigilance net

Nabarangpur/Bargarh: Acting on a complaint, Koraput’s vigilance department conducted simultaneous raids Tuesday at several places of Nilambar Satpathy, managing director of the Nabarangpur LAMPCS on a charge of amassing huge wealth through corrupt means.

Anti-corruption officials held simultaneous raids at six places – his house in Nabarangpur, a two-storey building  at Hatapada near Umerkote where the ‘Rhyming Bird English Medium School’ functioned, another two-storey building given out on rent at the Main Road near Lunia Jodi, a one-storey building given on rent at Gulipatna near Bhaskel river, the office chamber  at Nabarangpur and the residential house of his brother Trinath Satpathy at Gulipatna.

SP Vigilance, Koraput division, Jeypore, was leading the search through the day.

Tuesday, in another spread of dragnet, the Vigilance department raided the office and residence of assistant engineer of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) of Padampur, Saroj Kumar Rath, in Bargarh. The allegedly corrupt engineer is suspected to have accumulated huge assets through foul means in recent years.

Vigilance sleuths acted on a tip-off and conducted simultaneous raids.

No details about seizure of cash or documents were available immediately.
