Rasalpur: Two men were electrocuted after coming in contact with a live 11KV electric wire at Hidingi village under Chandipur police limits in Balasore district Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Jena of the same village and Lineman Satyanarayan Jena.
According to locals, family of Narayan Jena of Hidingi village had sought the intervention of Energy Department staff to fix a low lying 11KV live wire close to their house. Lineman Satyanarayan was attending to the case. He had asked Narayan’s son Pradeep top chop off a few branches from a tree.
The incident took place when Pradeep was cutting down a branch and Satyanarayan was pulling the cable. The live wire snapped and both came in contact with it leading to their death on the spot.
On being informed, local police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The family members of Pradeep, meanwhile, were opposed to autopsy and are demanding compensation.
