Brahmapur: Two minor girls were allegedly sex ually abused by their own kin under Gosani Nuagaon police limits here in Ganjam district, with police in the Brahmapur police district arresting two men in this connection after registration of two separate cases, authorities said Sunday.
Police said a 17-year-old girl accused her elder paternal uncle and his younger brother of sexually abusing her. The two men were arrested based on the victim’s statement.
They underwent medical examinations Sunday at MKCG Medical College and Hospital and were produced in the court in connection with case number 271/26.
Police later filed a separate case (272/26) against one of the accused after his own 12-year-old daughter accused him of sex ually abusing her as well.
Police said they plan to file a remand report against him in court.
Both girls were presented before the Child Welfare Committee and subsequently shifted to Utkal Balashram, a children’s shelter in Brahmapur, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. The arrests come after a woman in the Nimakhandi police station area committed suicide July 9 by setting herself on fire, police said.
In a statement recorded before her death, she said she took the action af ter being sexually abused and blackmailed by her father.
