Bhanjanagar: Forest officials arrested two poachers preparing to hook wires from transmission lines to hunt wild animals near Bahadapadar in Mujagarh forest range under North Ghumusar forest division in Ganjam district Monday night.
The arrested were identified as Sarat Naik of Samapalli and Banamali Bhuyan of Bahadapadar.
The officials seized large quantities of GI and service wires from their possession.
Both were produced in court Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected.

According to sources, Banamali had laid hooking wires stretching from his farmland to the nearby forest area Monday night to trap wild animals.
Sarat and others had assisted him in setting up the trap. Acting on a tip-off, forest range officer Bimbadhar Sahu directed forester Babul Sethi to conduct a raid.
Sethi and his team apprehended Banamali and Sarat during the operation, while several others involved managed to flee.
Reports indicate that incidents of timber theft and wildlife poaching have been rising in the jungles of various forest ranges under the North Ghumusar forest division.
