Bhubaneswar: Unit-I High School (UHS) entered the semifinals of the Inter-School football tournament after registering an emphatic 3-0 victory over DAV School, Pokhariput at the Unit-VI High School Ground here Thursday.
Karan Hembram, Sundar Mohan Kisko and Malay Majhi scored a goal each for the winning team. Sundar was adjudged man of the match.
Many former footballers staying at Cuttack visited the venue to witness the game. Former player Sukanta Duttaray was felicitated on this occasion by former minister Ranendra Pratap Swain.
Mothers Public School will meet Sainik School in the first semifinal, Friday.
RSC beat Kishore Club
Rising Star Club (RSC) registered a facile 3-1 victory over Kishore Club in a match of the FAO 1st Division football league at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Wednesday.
Sanjit Khara (24th) broke the deadlock for RSC, but Bikram Nayak (35th) restored parity for Kishore Club. However, goals from Dipak Minz (44th) and Abhijit Dey (80th) ensured full points for RSC with their strikes.
In the other match of theday, Bidanasi Club and Jay Durga Club played a goalless draw.
Award ceremony postponed
The Saroj Mahasuara Memorial Award ceremony, which was earlier scheduled for September 6, has been postponed due to incessant rain and bad weather, Town Club informed in a press release, Wednesday. The ceremony will now take place, September 9 at the Town Club Ground.
