Bhubaneswar, Dec 29: In a bid to provide water supply connections for public in civic bodies through a single platform, the state government has asked the urban local bodies (ULBs) to sign MoU with Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO), January 15.
The move is in line with the 74th constitutional amendment that mandates the state government to merge the town planning, PHEO (water department) and the drainage department with the urban local body to bring all key services under one platform.
Sources said, the housing and urban development (H&UD) department has asked the heads of civic bodies to hold a meeting of the council immediately to pass a resolution for the MoU.
The MoU will be signed between commissioner or executive officer of the ULB and the designated engineer of PHEO in charge of the ULB at 11.30am, January 15.
People, as such, need not make rounds of various departments to get water connections and approvals of building plans.
Notably, PHEO in Bhubaneswar charges `3.75 per 1,000 litres for domestic connection while for commercial and institutional purposes it is `12.41.
