Bhubaneswar, Jan 11: Uncertainty prevails over the implementation of the e-evaluation process with less than two months to go for the Plus II examinations in the state.
The higher education department had decided to implement the e-evaluation process in the wake of criticism about the manual evaluation of Plus II examination answer papers last year. About 3 lakh students had complained about the poor and faulty evaluation of the answer papers last year. This had led to Council for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) being heavily criticized for the faulty process of manual evaluation.
However, as there has been very little progress on the project, students and parents feel that the problems that were faced last year could haunt them this year also.
The higher education department had sought the support of the Information Technology (IT) department to amend the situation and asked the latter to select agency that will be entrusted with the job of e-evaluation. However, no progress has been made till now, according to sources.
CHSE has recently passed an order to ensure stringent security arrangements at the 1,091 centres where the Plus II examination will be held from March 2, for which more than 4 lakh students are expected to sit.
“The loopholes in the manual valuation came to fore last year. As such, the introduction of e-evaluation was a good move by the government. However, looking at the pace of work in implementing the project, this seems a distant dream for the students and parents,” said Janmejaya Rath, the father of a student who will sit for the examination.
