Baripada: Although Mayurbhanj Assembly elections concluded April 29, the unused postal ballots were found in garbage bin near the veranda of sub-Collector’s office here.
Sources said government officials from various departments on poll duty in the district had not cast their votes through postal ballots. Evidently, the postal ballots supplied to the officials had not been properly utilised.
After distribution of the postal ballots, the remaining ballots were thrown in the garbage by the officials.
When asked about this, the officials said unused ballot papers might have been put in the garbed after the elections.
Those postal ballots can be reused for the next elections, suggested some locals. They urged the district administration to take appropriate action in this regard.
