New Delhi: With merely four days to go for the competition, the AIFF unveiled Tuesday its 28 probables for the South Asian Games (SAG) in Guwahati. Twenty one of them have already joined the preparatory Camp in Guwahati, which commenced, January 31.
India have clubbed alongside Sri Lanka and Maldives in Group A. The hosts will clash against Sri Lanka in their opening fixture February 6 before taking on Maldives, February 10.
The under-23 side’s coach Lee Johnson said the boys are well-prepared for the competition. “We have imbibed a new setup for the U-23 national team and most of the players are new. The lads understand the importance of the competition and they remain focussed on emulating the success of the senior team,” stated Johnson.
When inquired about the fitness of the players, Lee opined, “The players are fit and look in good shape except Nikhil and Amrinder who are nursing minor injuries. But we expect them to train within the next couple of days.”
