Chennai: Seven-time National Award-winning Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu has revealed that superstar Rajinikanth’s autobiography, which is currently in the works, may be released in both Tamil and English.
In a post on X, Vairamuthu shared details of his recent meeting with Rajinikanth, saying he had visited the superstar to wish him ahead of the release of his upcoming film Jailer 2.
The poet, writer and lyricist said they discussed art and life during the meeting but did not speak about politics.
Vairamuthu also shared an update on Rajinikanth’s autobiography. “I asked him (Rajinikanth), ‘When will your autobiography come out?’ To this, he replied, ‘Work is underway. It will be out soon,’” he said.
Vairamuthu recalled telling Rajinikanth that many people were eagerly awaiting his autobiography. “He asked me why, and I told him many have a history, but you also have charisma,” the lyricist said.
He added that Rajinikanth had hinted that the autobiography could initially be published in both Tamil and English.
Meanwhile, Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is scheduled to hit theatres on October 15. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the action entertainer for release with a U/A certificate.
The makers recently released the film’s trailer, adding to the excitement among fans.
The trailer opens with actor Suraj Venjaramoodu’s character questioning a hostage. “In these two months, you must have learnt something about the person who did this, right?” he asks. The hostage replies, “Not just me, even you won’t be able to find him.”
The trailer shows several villains struggling to identify the person behind a series of developments before Rajinikanth appears as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
At one point, Suraj Venjaramoodu’s character asks his accomplices whether they have managed to find him. The trailer later reveals that Tiger Muthuvel Pandian has gone off the radar by posing as a driver. He appears to be keeping a low profile to discover whether the chain of command among the villains extends further.
The trailer also suggests that Tiger Muthuvel Pandian has used snipers against his enemies. One of the characters, played by S J Suryah, indicates that they can retaliate in the same manner.
Another notable exchange takes place between Rajinikanth’s character and Vidya Balan’s character. When she asks whether he wants tea or coffee, he politely declines. She responds, “The choice is between tea or coffee. It is not between whether to drink or not.”
A character also warns Tiger Muthuvel Pandian about the dreaded “Kalpaks”, saying they will not spare anyone. Muthuvel Pandian responds with a smile, “Oh dear, I didn’t know. Shall we see?”
He later confronts the Kalpaks and warns them that their methods of spreading fear belong to an earlier era. He says the current trend involves gathering all enemies in one place and bombing the location.
Jailer 2 has generated considerable anticipation among fans and audiences since its announcement. In April, the makers announced that filming had been completed and shared pictures from a cake-cutting ceremony marking the occasion.
