Bhubaneswar, May 5: At least 14 persons from across the state Tuesday lodged a complaint with the Crime Branch (CB) here against a chit fund company alleging the firm was not returning their money.
The 14 persons in a group went to the CB office here and lodged a complaint against a chit fund firm, Vibgyor Group of Companies, alleging the company had swindled money to the tune of Rs 14 crore.
Santosh Kumar Sahoo, one of the complainants, a businessman here, said the head of the chit fund company was Pabitra Kumar Sahoo of Khurda district.
Santosh first closed the company’s office at Nayapalli in 2013 and later in 2014 and stopped transacting business related to the firm, which he used to manage from his Khurda residence.
“I had deposited Rs 20 lakh in the company after Santosh promised high returns on the deposits. But now, he is not even returning the deposited amount and he is also threatening us of dire consequences if we kept asking him to return the money,” Santosh said.
The complainants said, meanwhile, Pabitra has been working as a teacher in a primary school in Banapur block.
The CB officials said that they were investigating the matter and assured that they would do the needful.
