Berhampur, Jan 31: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has made it mandatory for residential colleges to install CCTV cameras in examination halls during practical examinations of Plus-II, CHSE’s regional wing deputy secretary Suryanarayan Sahu said.
He said if the residential colleges fail to follow these guidelines, their results will be withheld. Such measures have been taken after reports of large-scale irregularities by the college authorities during conduct of examinations appeared, he said.
The colleges have to submit the answer-sheets along with camera recordings of three hours during the conduct of exams.
Sahu said even though installing cameras in exam halls was made mandatory last year, several residential colleges did not submit the recordings on several excuses including irregular power supply and technical problems. These colleges were served show-cause notices. “We are watching the goings-on in these colleges to ensure that exams are smoothly conducted,” Sahu added.
It may be mentioned here that practical examinations of Plus-II Science, Arts and Commerce streams in 105 colleges in Ganjam district will commence from February 2 and end February 9. The theory exams will start March 3.
A total of 30,000 students will appear for the examinations in 72 general colleges and 33 residential colleges in the district.
As many as 11,125 regular students will appear for the Arts, 9,124 for Science and 2,277 for Commerce. In ex-regular category, 4,472 students will appear for Arts, 2,812 Science and 1,101 Commerce. The examinations will be conducted
in 36 hubs.
A two-tier squad will monitor smooth conduct of the exams. The CHSE and the district-level consultant have formed squads to monitor the exams.
