Berhampur/Bhanjanagar, May 26: Vigilance sleuths conducted raids on the residences of the assistant executive engineer (AEE) of the Bhanjanagar Irrigation Department on the charge of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Three separate teams of the Vigilance department, on being directed by the Special Vigilance Judge, conducted simultaneous raids on the house of AEE Bhaskar Chandra Tripathy at Basudevnagar, his parental house at Mahupadar in Aska and his official chamber at Bhanjanagar.
After verification, Vigilance sleuths prepared a list of the movable and immovable assets of Tripathy.
As per the list, his wife Jyotsna Tripathy possesses a three-storied building worth Rs 65 lakh in Basudevpur and a plot worth Rs 1.49 lakh at Pathara. The AEE also owns a plot in Bhabinipur mouza which was registered in 1996 at Rs 7,220.
He also owns gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 8.27 lakh, home appliances worth Rs 2.56 lakh, fixed deposit of Rs 13.37 lakh in Bhanjanagar branch of the State Bank of India and life insurance of Rs 3.07 lakh in various companies. Tripathy has two motorcycles worth Rs 1.1 lakh. Rs 7,000 cash was also seized from his house during the raid.
According to the office of the Vigilance superintendent of police, the total cost of his properties identified would be around Rs 96.47 lakh.
