Bolangir: Separate teams of the Vigilance officials from Sambalpur division conducted simultaneous raids on the houses and ancestral properties of deputy forest ranger Keshab Nayak in Bolangir district Thursday. Nayak presently works in the Office of the divisional forest officer (DFO) in Bolangir town.

Acting on a tip-off, the anti-corruption wing raided Nayak’s houses for accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, an official of the Vigilance team informed.
The houses searched include a residential triple-storey building at Sagarpada, a double-storey building at Indra Nagar, a residential construction at Gupteswar Nagar, Nayak’s residence and his office.
Searches were also conducted at the forest ranger’s ancestral house at Majhipada village in Subarnapur district, the Vigilance official stated.
Nayak was found possessing assets worth Rs 2,02,24,386. Apart from the houses owned by the forest official, 16 plots of land, a four-wheeler, two two-wheelers, bank deposits, investment in insurance policies, gold ornaments, cash and several household articles were also seized by the anti-corruption personnel.
The exact valuation of assets amassed by the forest official is yet to be ascertained.
