Village youths assist mentally challenged girl 

Muribahal: In an exemplary humanitarian gesture, youths of Jamuta village of Patrapali panchayat under Muribahal block in Bolangir district have come forward and extended a helping hand for treatment of a mentally retarded girl of the same village.

According to sources, the youths, members of Netaji Yubak Sangh, have facilitated her treatment at the Bolangir District Headquarters Hospital by contributing money.

The girl, named Basanti Luha (22), is poor, downtrodden and mentally retarded. She has been suffering from mental disorder for the past couple of years and has received only preliminary treatment.

She was unable to get further treatment because of money problem as her father Pradip Luha is a daily wage worker. Despite her abnormal behaviour at home her father had to bear with it as he had no option.

The village youths who are instrumental in helping the girl are: Yudhisthir Bharasagaria, Hrishikesh Bhoi, Kshirod Seth, Abhaya Nag, Hemanta Putel, Suresh Putel, Ruman Nag, Manas Bag, Giridhari Majhi, Diga Bharasagaria, Babuli Tandi and Maya Putel.
