Bhanjakia: People of Aruanbeda under Raruan block of Mayurbhanj district had reminded the panchayat, the block and the district administration several times about the need for repair of their village road which had been in a bad shape, but nothing was done despite the pleadings.
They were disappointed with the administration for its apathy. Without waiting for it any longer, villagers got united and repaired the road with their own efforts and funds.
“Our village is 12 km away from the block headquarters, but has been neglected on all fronts. We had apprised our people’s representatives at the panchayat level and then officials at the block and district levels several times, pleading for renovation of the road, but to no avail,” villagers lamented.
They pointed out that the road was full of mud and potholes. Even an ambulance could not get access to it whenever critical patients needed shifting to a nearby hospital. Now, they have set the road right, at least making it easy for commuting in the rainy season.
Over 700 people of tribal community live in the village. They warned of boycotting elections in coming days.
Raruan BDO Jayshree Beura said the road will be repaired after the end of rainy season.
Sanjay Chattar, Bhanumati Champia, Mohany Champia and other villagers accused the administration of having done nothing for development of their village.
