Ramnaguda: Upset over the inordinate delay by the administration, the residents of Antimuni village of Gosaingulumunda panchayat under this block in Rayagada district have set up a makeshift bridge on a canal to establish road connection to their village.
Though there was a bridge over the canal, it was damaged about seven years ago. Till now, the administration has not done anything about it, locals said. But it is learnt that the villagers have been kept in dark which department – block administration or rural development –would take up the project.
Rural development department claims that a survey has been done for construction of a road and bridge in the area and the funds are awaited. On the other hand, the block administration says the project is too big for them to execute.
With the ongoing uncertainty over the construction of the bridge, the villagers had been facing a lot of trouble during rainy season. While students found it difficult to attend their classes, others, including patients, ration card holders and pensioners, got deprived of their benefits.
Frustrated over the lackadaisical attitude of the administration, some enthusiastic youths set up a wooden makeshift bridge over the canal for villagers’ conveyance. PNN
