A video showing two teachers working in a rain-flooded office at a government school has gone viral, sparking widespread criticism of India’s public education infrastructure.

The video, reportedly from an unidentified government school, shows water gushing into the office through a rear window, flooding the entire room. Despite the dangerous conditions, the teachers continue their work, seated and surrounded by ankle-deep water. Their calm demeanour has left social media users both stunned and sympathetic.

Many viewers have expressed outrage, calling the video a grim reflection of neglected infrastructure. “We will become a Vishwa Guru later; first, build proper schools,” one user commented. Others praised the teachers’ dedication, likening them to “soldiers” committed to duty in any condition.

Shared by the X handle Saral Vyangya, the video has been viewed thousands of times and has ignited a conversation around safety in schools during monsoon season.

The India Meteorological Department has reported heavy rains in several states, causing severe waterlogging. Critics argue that the government’s failure to ensure safe and functional school facilities, especially during extreme weather is inexcusable.

“This isn’t just about curriculum anymore,” one commenter noted. “Teachers deserve not just salaries but also safe, dignified workplaces.”

The viral footage has intensified calls for urgent reforms in school infrastructure and raised questions about the priorities of local administrations.
