BHUBANESWAR: Children must dream of success during early stage of their life and to fulfil the dream they should devote their efforts in this direction. All parents, guardians and teachers should come forward to encourage their children in achieving their goal, stated eminent dignitaries while addressing the congregation of the inaugural ceremony of 29th Sisu Mela (Children festival week) here Wednesday.
The program was organised by People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), a leading socio-cultural organisation at Bhubaneswar, Wednesday. While inaugurating the week-long festival, the guests encouraged the children and emphasised that they must engage in achieving their dreams. Commissioner of police Satyajit Mohanty said that children must be educated on taking care of their environment.
He briefed the gathering on the Know Your Police programme, so that children can report and interact with police freely. Anjan Kumar Manik, IAS, Labour Commissioner, Odisha emphasised that it is the responsibility of all the elders to ensure the happiness of their children. He elucidated the importance of the recently passed Child Labour Act’s provisions. Sandhyabati Pradhan, Chairperson, OSCPCR, said that to be a responsible citizen, every child should follow their passion. Kalyan Ranjan, Associate Vice President of HCCB emphasised that children must respect themselves and explore their inner talent. Sahadev Sahu, Retd IAS, former Chief Secretary to Govt. of Orissa said that dedication, hard work and positive attitude are the key qualities of all responsible citizens.
Cine artist Bhumika Das, Labanya Das, also stressed the importance of formative stages in the life of a child. Pradosh Pattnaik, President, PECUC, presided on the inaugural function of 29th children festival week. Secretary of PECUC Ranjan Mohanty briefed the gathering about the last 29 years of the festival in his welcome address. This was followed by a cultural program by children of Suravi group from Dept of culture, Govt of Odisha, Flowers group, Vickey dance group and Sarala Group. The program was conducted by Ratna Dash, Jyotirmayee Mohapatra, Jyotisankar Mohanty and Ganeswar Singh of PECUC.
The festival is scheduled to continue till November 20.
Children must be educated on conservation of the environment as it would affect them in the future directly. We should also be aware of the Know Your Police programme so that children can report and interact with police freely.
