Just imagine you are working in your office and you have to go to the toilet. But, the office stops you from using the toilet asks you to pay fine to use the loo. What would be your reaction?
Actually, a Chinese company has made a similar policy. Yes! You heart it right. By the way, this company allows its employees to go to the restroom. But employees have to pay a fine if they go to the toilet more than once.
Company named Anpu Electric’s says that employees are lazy and more than once toilet policy is to break the laziness and to improve work efficiency. If the employee takes more than one toilet break, he/she is fined 20 yuan (Rs220)
On 20 and 21 December last year, the company fined seven employees. Actually, this rule is being linked to Charlie Chaplin’s popular film Modern Times. In this film, the employee has to register himself/herself with his/her boss before going to the toilet.
However, fines that break toilet rules have now been taken into account by the local administration. The administration has started an investigation on this entire matter. The administration says that the company should improve its policy and refund the employees who have been fined.
Citing the reason for implementing the policy, manager of the company says that employee is not asked to pay the penalty on the spot, the company is deducting it from their monthly bonus. He said that the company had to bring this rule because some employees often went to the toilet and smoked cigarettes and avoid their work. The management talked to the employees several times but it had no effect on them.
