Baripada: A woman allegedly chopped off the genital of her husband after the latter caught her red-handed with another man.
The incident took place under Bangiriposi police limits in Mayurbhanj district Friday.
According to reports, the man spotted the woman and her lover in a compromising position. Fearing he might expose their illicit relationship before others, the woman along with her male friend attacked him. They overpowered him and chopped off his genital with a kitchen knife.
The duo then fled the spot after committing the crime.
Hearing the screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued the man. He was then taken to Bangiriposi Community Health Centre (CHC) in a critical condition. Later he was shifted to Baripada district headquarters hospital (DHH) for better treatment after his condition deteriorated.
A complaint has been lodged against the woman and her lover with Bangiriposi police. The police have registered a case in this connection and launched a man-hunt to nab the accused.
