Bhubaneswar: With detection of five new cases Tuesday, the state’s total Covid-19 tally went up to 60. While one case is related to Jajpur, four others are related to Bhubaneswar alone.
The state government said it has tested a total of 4,734 cases, out of which positive cases stood at 60.
A 66-year-old male patient from Jajpur who tested positive for COVID 19 came from Kolkata with 17 others in a vehicle and reached Jajpur March 28. He also travelled to different parts of the district in a fish transport vehicle. He has been admitted to Aswhini COVID Hospital in Cuttack.
One 51-year-old patient from Jharpada in Bhubaneswar, who tested positive, stayed at Niladrinagar in the region. He is said to have made occasional visits to Kesura Bazar, Rasulgarh Hatta, Palasuni for grocery and vegetable buying.
Three other cases are related to their COVID patients from the area. The three patients are all residents of Bablyon apartment at Jay Durga Nagar near Bomikhal.
All of them remained at home quarantine for 14 days but despite the stay, they were tested positive for the disease. All of them have been shifted to KIMS COVID Hospital. The patients from the apartment included a 75-year-old male, a 50-year-old male and a 51-year-old female.
Subroto Bagchi, chief spokesperson of the government (COVID management) said the state has now got 20 COVID Hospitals with a cumulative capacity of 3,420 beds in 18 different districts with 197 ICU beds.
The government said two more centres in the state have now got approval for testing of samples for COVID 19. In yet another step to strengthen our surveillance efforts, COVID-19 testing has commenced at Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela and Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Tuesday, a statement from the state health department said.
Another 15 hospitals will become functional very soon in rest of the districts with 2,282 beds and 38 ICU beds, the statement added.
