Cuttack: A day after arresting notorious criminal Uttam Singh alias Kabua in an encounter, yet another criminal has been held here. Basir Khan alias Juga was caught in an encounter at Brahmanajharilo in the wee hours of Tuesday .
Khan, in an exchange of fire, received bullet injuries on his right leg and was admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital. A resident of Brahmanajharilo Gothapatana, Juga was involved in the bomb-hurling on a PCR van Friday last at Kurunti village in Cuttack. Many other cases are pending against him at several police stations including Mancheswar and Sadar, police said.
Acting on the tip off, a special squad of Sadar police station conducted raids in the Brahmanajharilo cold store area Monday night.
Cornered, Khan hurled two bombs on cops and tried escape. IIC Sudhansu Bhushan Jena opened fire at the criminal. “Khan received injuries on his right leg and is being treated at Cuttack-based SCB Medical College and Hospital. Three bombs and a mobile phone were seized from him, police said.
