Jaleswar: Balasore police arrested four persons, including a woman, and seized 279 gram brown sugar in two separate raids conducted Friday. In the first operation, an eight-member police team led by Sub-Inspector Banita Nayak raided the home of Rubina Bibi, 27, in Rajpur village.
After receiving tip-off regarding illegal drug trafficking, officers discovered 259 gram brown sugar concealed within a secret cavity in a wall. Police estimate the street value of the seized drugs at more than Rs 26 lakh. Rubina, the wife of Sirajuddin, was arrested and booked under case (102/26) before being produced in court. In a second raid along the Panughata road, police apprehended three men acting suspiciously.
The suspects, identified as Sudarshan Jena and Babu Mukhi of Shikharpur, and Satya Prakash Hota of Gopa village, were found in possession of 20 gram brown sugar.
