Remuna: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two youths at Mandarpur under Remuna block in Balasore district Monday night. The incident occurred during Mahashivaratri while the woman was behind a temple to relieve herself.
Ashok Das (24) and Manoj Giri (30) dragged her away to a desolate place and allegedly committed the crime. As the woman did not return to the temple for several hours, her family members started looking for her. Later, she was found and she revealed her ordeal to her kin.
Following a complaint, the police arrested the two accused. The accused and the victim were medically examined.
Differently-abled girl raped
Phulbani: A differently-abled girl was allegedly raped by a youth here in Kandhamal district, police said Tuesday. Police detained the youth and started an investigation. The incident occurred when the girl had been to a nearby temple to witness Jagar Yatra on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. The youth took her to an isolated place on some pretext and raped her. The girl returned home and narrated the incident to her family members who lodged a police complaint.
