Sundargarh: A man was allegedly hacked to death by his mother at Taparia village under Hemagiri police limits in Sundargarh district Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kushman Barik (35).
According to reports, Kushman used to quarrel with his mother Gurubari (55) in inebriated condition. Unable to bear her son’s annoying behavior, Gurubari was staying at her daughter’s house.
She had recently returned back to her own house for Nuakhai celebrations during which a verbal spat ensued between the two. While Kushman was sleeping on a cot, his mother picked up a spade and hacked him to death in a fit of rage.
Kushman who sustained critical injuries on his neck died on the spot. Following the death, Gurubari confessed to the crime before villagers.
On being informed, police reached the spot along with scientific experts and started investigation. The murder accused was arrested and forwarded to court.
