Puri: A forty five-year-old woman died while her husband was critically injured in a head-on collision between two three-wheelers at Chaitana Kandara square under Sadar police limits in Puri district Sunday. The deceased was Sukanti Das, wife of the injured Prafulla Das of the same area.
The couple on an auto-rickshaw was on their way to Puri. A bamboo-laden auto hit the vehicle after its driver lost balance on the wheels. The couple was trapped inside the vehicle and was seriously injured. Locals rushed them to the DHH where Sukanti succumbed to her injuries. Drivers of both the vehicles were on the run after the mishap.
The injured man was rushed to Sadar district hospital. Police seized both the vehicles and opened a case file. The body was sent for post-mortem and a case of unnatural death was registered.
