Malkangiri: Even as the Peoples Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) week is being observed by the outlawed CPI (Maoist) outfit, a hardcore woman Maoist, carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on her head surrendered before police in Malkangiri district Monday.
According to reports, she has been identified as Ide Madi (23), who was renamed as Jiwani after she joined the Rebels. Jiwani surrendered before Malakangiri SP, Jagmohan Meena and expressed her wish to joined the mainstream of the society and live a normal life.
She claimed the Maoists of sidelining from their actual motive and taking to violence for personal gains rather than the fight for the rights of common men.
According to the SP, Jiwani was a member of the Kalimela Area Committee, Malkangiri division under the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of CPI (M) since 2014.
Incidentally, she was the last Maoist cadre operating in the Kalimela Area Committee. She expressed resentment over the violent activities carried out by the ultras in which several innocent civilians lost their lives.
She also cited that several developmental activities and frequent anti-Maoist operations by security forces in interior areas of Kalimela encouraged her to shun violence and surrender.
“I left the party as I saw the developmental activities and realized the futility of the violent approach of Maoists,” she said adding that she even did not like the activities of CPI (Maoist) cadres like Deba Madhi alias Arjun alias Randev who are involved in many brutal killings of innocent civilians.
Jiwani will receive monetary assistance as per the Surrender and Rehabilitation scheme of the state government. She will also get financial assistance for house, studies and training in a trade or vocation of her liking.
Jiwani, who was active in the banned outfit between 2014-2018, was involved in killing of five persons during 2017-2018.
Talking to the media persons, SP Jagmohan Meena informed, “She will get monetary assistance for building house, pursuing studies and getting training in a trade/vocation of her liking. We will make sure that she does not have to join the Maoists again and lives a normal life.”
