Bhubaneswar: A 75-year-old woman was rescued from a manhole at Tarasundari road in Old Town area Friday morning, ten hours after she fell into it.
She was admitted to Capital Hospital here for treatment.
According to reports, the woman fell into the 15-ft deep manhole at about 8 pm Thursday. She had to spend the entire night inside it as no one noticed her.
Locals who heard her scream for help from the manhole Friday morning informed police about the mishap after which fire personnel reached the spot and rescued her.
“We were informed about the mishap by Control Room at 7.20am. We rushed to the spot with a team, entered the manhole using a ladder and rescued her. She had sustained injuries in her head. We admitted her to Capital Hospital where her condition is stated to be stable,” a fire official said.
