Chhendipada: A woman’s body was recovered a well on a temple premises at Ostapasi Square in Santarabandh under Chhendipada police limits in Angul district Monday.
The deceased was identified as Padmini Pradhan (40) wife of Khirod Pradhan of nearby Kendupasi.
Locals noticed the body floating in the 30-ft deep well on the Maa Mahisha Mardini (Banadurga) temple premises and informed the fire personnel and the police.
Police and fire personnel recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. A case was registered and investigations were on.
Police said Padmini was missing from home for the last four days following which her husband had filed an FIR in police station.
Some claimed that the woman committed suicide, while others believed she might have slipped into the well while drawing water. Padmini’s mother-in-law filed a complaint of murder in the local police station.
