Kamakhyanagar/Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, the body of a woman was recovered from a paddy field in Dangapal under Kankadahada police limits in Dhenkanal district Monday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. Locals spotted the nude body lying abandoned in the middle of the paddy field and immediately informed the police. They noticed her clothes, slippers, handkerchief and hair clip lying 20 metres away from the body.
Preliminary investigation suggested that it was a case of rape and murder. Kamakhyanagar SDPO Suprasanna Mallick, Kankadahada IIC Pramod Kumar Lenka, assistant forensic officer Tapan Kumar Pradhan started an investigation with sniffer dogs.
A case was registered in this connection and further investigations are on.
