Rajnagar: As many as six women were taken ill on the second day of marathon protest at Bhitargarh panchayat on the main road connecting Rajnagar and Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district.
The women have been demanding closure of a newly opened foreign liquor off shop in the vicinity. They have been protesting on the road braving incessant rains since Wednesday.
Six of them, however, were taken ill Thursday and were admitted to Rajnagar primary healthcare centre where they are being treated under the care of Dr. Pranab Sukla.
The protest, meanwhile, continues as dozens of other women continue to agitate over their demand of immediate closure of the shop. Tension runs high as more and more women are being taken ill owing to fatigue.
