Bhubaneswar: A training on workplace safety for informal women workers and slum-level human rights defenders was organised Sunday at Red Cross Bhawan by ActionAid Association in collaboration with the Centre for Child and Women Development (CCWD), Bhubaneswar.
Addressing the gathering, Debabrata Patra, associate director of ActionAid Association, said workplace safety is crucial for all workers in both organised and unorganised sectors, stressing the need for greater awareness of the POSH Act.
Guest speaker Mahendra Parida, member of the Unorganised Workers’ Welfare Board, stressed that an Internal Complaints Committee is vital for workers’ well-being.
Another guest, Sumita Rani Ghosh, member of the Child Welfare Committee, Khurda, highlighted the need for a gender-friendly and safe work environment.
Among others, Suvenu Kumar Ray, Senior Lead Programme, spoke on the situation of women workers and their rights and entitlements.
