Bhubaneswar, June 4: Abhishek Jagini of Sri Sri University, Cuttack, has been selected to represent India at the third BRICS International Youth Forum to be held in South Africa from Sunday. The summit is taking place at Pretoria, in Johannesburg from June 5-12.
Abhishek recently completed masters in good governance and public policy (political governance) and is to represent India as youth leader at the event, where he will lead the discussion and share views on global issues and the role of youths.
Abhishek is excited by the opportunity to represent India at an International forum. “I am happy that I got this opportunity to represent India at such a forum. I am interested in policy and international relations, and had drafted an alternative agricultural sub-policy and shared it with the BRICS forum. A few days ago, I got a message inviting me to take part in the upcoming youth summit,” he said.
The forum is considered the largest gathering of young delegates from BRICS. Delegates from different walks of life, including scientists, experts, entrepreneurs, senior government officials (youth development programmes), non-profit organisations, civil society, investment specialists, aspiring industrialists, young professionals and media experts from BRICS nations will participate in the event.
Though Abhishek had attended the BRICS summit earlier, too, this is the first time he will be addressing the event. “I will speak about entrepreneurs, exchange of ideas and exchange of culture.”
The youth forum serves as a unique opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and best practices and encourage stronger personal and professional relationships.
He is trying to learn more about BRICS and issues he can discuss. “Currently I am reading more about BRICS and international relations. I am looking forward to contribute to the growth of India through law and policymaking,” Abhishek said.
“I am sure the summit will enable dialogue and communication across boundaries to foster concerted efforts among youth of BRICS nations towards individual and collective development of nations,” he added.
Dr Pratima Sarangi, a head of department at the university has been happy with Abhishek’s achievement. “He is a bright student. It is a matter of pride that one of our students will represent India at an international summit. I wish him all the best.”
Professor Kamala Kanta Dash, a member of faculty of public policy and global governance and mentor to Abhishek, said: “I have known him for the past two years and he has shown extraordinary skills in leading discussions on issues of policy importance. He founded National Integration Club (NIC) at the university as a unique platform to celebrate diversity and recognise leadership among students on campus and beyond. I am sure he will be able to learn from and contribute to the BRICS youth forum.”
