Kashinagar: Miscreants Monday hacked a youth Congress activist to death over past enmity when he was on his way from Lakshmipur village in Kashinagar on a bike to attend a court hearing in Paralakhemundi.
The victim was identified as Tipuru Sanjeev of Bhupati Lakshmipur. The miscreants waylaid him on a road between Arada and Sitapur and hacked him to death. A man accompanying him on pillion escaped the attack.
A police team led by Kashinagar IIC Anand Chandra Patra rushed to the spot and started an investigation. SP Amulya Kumar Das and Paralakehmundi IIC rushed to the spot and joined the investigation while the body was sent for post-mortem.
Sanjeev was member of the youth Congress and actively involved in the party work. MLA K Surya Rao, Hi-Tech Group chairman Tirupati Panigarhi, party working president G Tirupati Rao and other leaders reached the spot.
