Gopalpur: A youth allegedly died by suicide inside Golanthara police station in Ganjam district Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Dakua, a resident of Rangipur village under Golanthara police limits.
According to a source, Ganesh had created a ruckus at Rangipur panchayat office when PDS rice was being distributed. On getting information about this, a team from Golanthara police station reached the panchayat office and took Ganesh to the police station.
He was kept in the cell of women and children’s desk. It was around 8:00 pm when the police station staff found him hanging with his own belt.
He was immediately brought down and rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. But it was too late. The doctors there declared him received dead.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated a detailed probe into the alleged suicide case.
