Kendrapara: The police from Derabish has arrested a 24-year-old youth, Gajendra Behera, of Bibhutipada village on a charge of assaulting two girls. The two girls were returning from the market in a scooty to their house at Bibhutipura when the incident occurred.
An issue existed over a case of rejection of love by one of the girls, police said.
According to IIC Sudhir Ranjan Sahu, one Rakesh Swain of Bibhutipada was trying unsuccessfully to court a fellow village girl, but the girl did not respond. Wednesday evening, Rakesh met the girl while she was returning home with a friend on a scooty.
He followed the girls with the help of his friend Gajendra on a two-wheeler and placed his hands on the girls’ running scooty. The two girls fell down from the vehicle. They created a ruckus. Rakesh and Gajendra allegedly misbehaved with the two girls and assaulted them.
Based on a complaint, police registered a case and arrested Gajendra while Rakesh was absconding.
