Jharsuguda: The body of a girl aged between 18-20 years was found at Kubapada village near Kirmira block in Jharsuguda district Tuesday.
A youth identified as Ranjit Bagh (22) of Kubapada village was arrested in connection with the incident Wednesday.
Interrogation of the accused revealed that Ranjit had a love affair with the girl, a native of Rayabaga in Sundargarh district. Ranjit along with the victim had gone to a nearby agricultural land Saturday night. The two had a heated argument over some issue and the girl slapped Ranjit. In a fit of rage, he thrashed the girl brutally and she fell unconscious. Ranjit buried the victim alive and fled the spot.
Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed Ranjit and took him for interrogation.
Police sent the body for post-mortem.
