Youth killed, 2 critical in accident

Balasore: A biker was killed on the spot while two other bikers sustained critical injuries after their vehicles collided head on near Pattapola Square on Balasore-Chandipur Road, Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Mahendra Duari, 35, a native of Hidigaon area in Balasore district. The injured bikers were identified as Nilakantha Barik, 30, and his father Kartik Barik, 50. The mishap occurred when Mahendra was returning home from Chandipur while Nilakantha with his father on pillion was on his way to Mullanagar. Locals and Chandipur police rescued the injured youth and his father and admitted them to Balasore district headquarters hospital. Police sent the body for post-mortem and launched an investigation.
