Baripada: A youth set an example for others by marrying an orphaned girl of Chitrada area, who had been left in the lurch post her clearing of HSC in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district. As per guidelines of the NGO that runs the child care centre, an inmate can continue in the centre until HSC only.
The district administration, which had refused to rehabilitate the girl when she had knocked its doors, extended help to the couple during the marriage Tuesday at Chitrada Jagannath temple. District child protection officer Mamatamayee Biswal was preset on the occasion on instruction from collector Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, who also wished the couple well.
According to reports, Mina Mohant had been orphaned from her childhood. She had been staying at the child care centre run by an NGO since she was five. But as per guidelines, the institution will not take care of the girl after she passed matriculation. Once out of the centre, she sought a relative’s help, but later changed her mind.
Then, she sought help from the district administration. Rehabilitation in such case was not forthcoming from the district administration. Mina was in the lookout for a job in the district.

He married Mina at the Jagannath temple in Chitrada Tuesday in the presence of the district child protection officer. Rs 10,000 was provided to the newly wed from the Red Cross fund.
Mina thanked the media and expressed her desire to pursue higher studies. Former sarpanch Dulichand Khandelwal performed the ritual of offering the bride. PNN
