post news network, Bhubaneswar, April 16: As many as 40 students received prizes for performing well in various competitions during the 49th annual function of College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (CAET) at OUAT, held on their college premises in city, Thursday.
Among all, Zigma Sahoo bagged four medals for excellence in athletics. She became the fastest lady of OUAT-2015. She came first in 100 meter, 200 meter and 400 meters run and third in the high jump.
“Sports became a most important part of my life. I have got top positions in various sports competitions during school days. I maintained the same zeal in my college days. I have been inspired by such sportswomen of India as PT Usha, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza and many more. I Believe, sportswomen are the pride of our nation,” said Zigma.
Other students were given prizes for their class performance in dramatic and literary competitions. The winners were given prizes by the minister of panchayati raj and law, Arun Kumar Sahoo, during the programme.
An array of cultural activities was held to mark the annual function, after the prize giving ceremony was over. Around 60 students fascinated the audience by taking part in the cultural show.
The programme opened with the song Agrizium welcome, composed by students themselves. Dean of OUAT Md K Khan and the vice chancellor of the varsity Manaranjan Kar were present during the event.
