Koraput, Sept 26: Jeypore MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati should immediately apologise for his remarks aimed at her during the recent 43rd zilla parishad (ZP) meet, ZP chairperson Malati Majhi Saturday told mediapersons here.
The MLA raised questions on her capability while making offensive remarks and even leveled unfounded corruption charges against her, Majhi claimed, adding she would hit the roads in protest unless Bahinipati tendered a public apology.
“A Vigilance probe would be initiated if Bahinipati comes out with the evidence. As I am a tribal woman, this is not just an attempt to malign me but is an attempt to malign the entire tribal community,”
Majhi added.
She first worked as a sarpanch and subsequently became a samiti member, LAMPS chairperson, ZP member and now elected as ZP chairperson, Majhi told the media describing her elevation to the post. She added she was deeply hurt by the Jeypore legislator’s unwarranted remarks and said that until Bahinipati produces details in
support of his allegations, the Zilla Adivasi Sangh won’t hesitate in staging demonstrations.
