Rupsa: Police Sunday arrested three persons who had made a robbery bid on a nationalised bank at Haladipada in Balasore.
Police seized two guns, 19 bullets, a knife, GI pipes and three bicycles from the accused, said SDPO Ranjit Prusty at a press meet here Sunday.
The accused were identified as Harbhajan Singh of Madhya Pradesh, Gokul Singh and Bharat Singh of Budaun district in Uttar Pradesh. They were staying in a rented house here and were hawking plastic items in the day time, the police said.
According to police, a gang of five was planning to make a robbery bid on the bank Saturday night. Villagers suspected their intentions and overpowered them. But two of them managed to escape. The villagers thrashed the three persons before informing the police. PNN
